Mission Thursday – The Garment We Wear for Others

Today is Mission Thursday — Garment Day.
This morning, after dropping my son at school, I saw something that stirred my spirit.

A couple walking by the roadside.
The woman had a baby tied on her back. A little girl, about three years old, walking beside her. Inside a sack was a mattress and a few bags. The husband was ahead, pulling three huge bags. They were heading to the stage… relocating to a new place far from there.

As I drove past them, I felt it.
That garment feeling.
“Can’t you help them?”
I drove ahead… but I couldn’t ignore it. So I turned back.
I approached them and asked what was happening. They told me they were shifting houses. I offered to carry them. And I’m so glad I did. I watched relief replace exhaustion on their faces as they comfortably settled into the car.

It wasn’t just a lift.
It was a garment.
At The Garment Mission, we believe a garment is not only cloth.
A garment can be:
A ride.
A kind word.
A listening ear.
A meal.
A helping hand.
A small sacrifice that makes someone’s burden lighter.
Sometimes people don’t need money.
They just need someone to notice.
Today reminded me that we all, at some point, need a garment from others. And we are all called to clothe someone in kindness.
So let me ask you:
✨ What garment are you offering today?
✨ Have you ever been offered a garment of kindness when you least expected it?
Let’s make this Mission Thursday count.
